Gun Shooting
The average gun shooting enthusiast thrives on the camaraderie that is to be had when attending a variety of events. Oftentimes individuals as well as entire clubs will meet up to host events, and while the focus is clearly put on shooting guns, the goal is not the score or the winner of any one contest or competition, but instead to foster a sense of community. Since there are many negative feelings attached to shooting, gun ownership, and even well organized gun shooting matches, it is not surprising that the sometimes negative press needs to be overcome.
For the gun shooter the ideas of competition and community are the key components to the enjoyment of the sport, but the ability to branch out and try different disciplines and even work with entirely different hardware is another benefit that cannot be mentioned often enough. While the shooting and reloading of hunting guns has a limited appeal to girls, shooting guns in a clean contest environment is gender neutral and attracts aficionados from both genders and all ages. Thus it is not surprising to see a woman shooting guns or participating in shooting guns games.
Once such event that is also sanctioned by the International Shooting Sports Federation is the Three Positions Gun Shoot; participants will be gun shooting while alternatively laying down, kneeling, and standing. Shooting guns while lying down on the ground adds the component of accuracy to the event and gun shootings that take place from that position will usually require that a target be hit accurately from about 50 meters away. Some gun shoots will include the 300 meter rifle distance, but this is not standard practice. Those who like machine gun shooting will find that there is no place for this discipline when it comes to Three Positions Gun Shooting.
Those who watch gun shooting match videos will be impressed to see the participants alternate their positions from lying down to standing upright and continue their gun shooting without the help of any aids. This is generally a competition stance, although when done simply for fun, some concessions may be made for newbies, infirm, and those who simply want to try it but need that little bit of extra help. The last gun shooting position is the kneeling pose and once again the conditions are changed to such an extent that this is considered to be a demanding event sport indeed.
